Nestled in the majestic Southern Alps

Nestled in the majestic Southern Alps, Mount Algidus Station is one of New Zealand’s most iconic highland estates. Set on over 53,900 acres of land established in 1861, where the Rakaia – Mathias – Wilberforce rivers meet, the landscape unfolds like a vivid painting with alluvial river valleys, endless grasslands and snow-capped mountains that change hues with the light of day.

At the heart of the estate is a charming country manor-style building with an old-fashioned timber roof, light-coloured stonework and a wide veranda overlooking the entire valley. Inside, the warm interior with stone fireplaces, vintage floral sofas, portraits and yellow lighting gives the space a luxurious yet rustic feel, very “European estate in the mountains of New Zealand”.

In addition to the main house, the property also boasts a swimming pool, an outdoor dining area with a fireplace, beautifully landscaped gardens and plenty of ancillary space for farming activities. All combine to create a completely secluded estate where the wild beauty of nature meets the serenity of classical architecture – a place that touches the most original sense of peace.
